How to Plan a Stress-Free Wedding Day Timeline

How to Plan a Stress-Free Wedding Day Timeline

A relaxed, well-paced day makes for the most genuine photos. Here's how I help my couples build a timeline with room to breathe — and time to soak it all in.

The secret to a wedding day that feels calm instead of rushed isn't squeezing more in — it's leaving space. When we build your timeline together, my number one goal is to give you margin: a few extra minutes here and there so a late hair appointment or a long hug doesn't tip the whole day over.

I always recommend planning your portraits around the light, not the clock. Golden hour — that soft, warm window in the last hour before sunset — is worth protecting fiercely. We'll often sneak away for ten minutes during the reception to catch it, and those tend to be the images you'll print the largest.

Finally, build in a moment that's just the two of you. Whether it's a first look, a quiet minute after the ceremony, or a slow dance with no one watching, those unscripted pauses are where the real magic happens — and where I do some of my favorite work.
