Golden Hour Magic: My Favorite Light in Northern Colorado

That warm, glowy light in the last hour before sunset is pure magic. Here are the spots and seasons where Northern Colorado glows the brightest.
If you've ever wondered why photographers obsess over 'golden hour,' it's because the light in that final hour before sunset is soft, warm, and impossibly flattering. It wraps around you instead of casting harsh shadows, and it turns ordinary fields into something cinematic.
Around Northern Colorado, I have a handful of go-to spots: open prairie east of Severance for big, glowing skies; the foothills near Fort Collins when we want mountains in the frame; and tucked-away garden venues for couples who love color and texture.
Season matters too. Late summer brings tall golden grasses, fall sets the foothills on fire with aspens, and fresh snow makes for clean, romantic winter sessions. Tell me the feeling you're after and I'll help you choose the place and time of year to match.
